How To Use Stand Up Golf Putting Stance & Stroke
By Al Delgado
1. Standup putting stance with a longer putter sets up without preset angles in back/spine/legs, (slight forward tilt) body is relaxed (no back/spine pressure) with natural turning, timing, rhythm and balance, arms/hands hang downward ( no elbow bend) in their natural swing path and remain connected to shoulder.
2. Natural height is set, legs and head remain aligned to back/spine, center of gravity, equilibrium and peripheral vision are maintained and mind remains clear. HHHUUUUMMM!!!
3. A Standup putting stance sets upright at a set elevation, no vertical drop or angle (legs/back) adjusting motion,(up, down, forward, backward) arms/hands extend downward in their natural swing path. (single plane, lever stroke)
4. Head/eyes, arms/hands and putter consistently set up over a golf ball, forearms/hands/palms face are set facing each other, (neutral) dominant hand/ palm set up parallel to putter face and square to a target. 5. Standup putting stance eliminates angle separation (no breaking down) of hands/ wrists from forearms, putter becomes an extension of arms/hands and work in unison (single plane) at a set elevation, hands do not fight each other for dominance.
6. To set a Standup swing stance golfer holds head/shoulder and putter grip in place, walks/tippy toes feet away from golf ball until back of calves tighten, (5 degree forward tilt) stop and relax knees, at same time sets clearance between grip and thighs. Arms/hands/putter swing free from shoulder, remain online backward and forward, eliminates offline hand/ putter wondering.( solid, on center putter face contact)
7. Golfer grips putter grip with extended flat dominant/controlling hand/palm, sets inside of palm parallel to putter face and square to target, forearm/hand/wrist/putter are tied together..( no putter/hand rotation)
8. At a full extension dominant hand maintains feeling, mental and physical control is transferred to dominant arm/hand/palm.
9. Body/putting stance remain relaxed, static and in position (no adjusting angle and elevation motion) dominant arm/hand/palm are in control of putter face/stroke, golfer dissociates himself/herself from body motion and stroke mechanics.
10. Shoulder/arms/hand/putter are tied together and remain connected, dominant hand pulls, times putter/putting stroke backward to a set position, in rhythm accelerates arm/hand/palm/putter direct and level at golf ball/target, controlling stroke and distance.
Putting stroke is now one dimensional, “forward and backward”, golfers are in control, remain mentally and physically confident.
During execution of a Standup putting stroke putting stance remains in position, golfers mentally and physically feel target direction and distance, shoulder/arms/putting stroke ( single plane) remain on line forward and backward, do not fall offline and cause a jerking (YIPS!) stroke.
Arm/hand/putter swing on a natural path level to ground, golfers focus on making putts, putter contacts a golf ball solid, on center of putter face, releases thru a golf ball and online to a target, simplifies putting for all.
A Standup putting stance is who you are, sets up consistent at a set elevation and eliminates guessing. Natural Consistency! 56 anyone? Want to learn more, come to www.standupgolfacademy.com sign up, Standup! what do you have to lose except, strokes!
